Monthly Budget

So I've decided to give myself a Monthly Budget.  I, like many women before me, have learned that I in fact spend too much on clothing and frivolous items.  It's true.  I have fifteen white tank tops, seven black blazers, a million shoes - enough is enough!  I'm asking you to journey with me as I find, and stick to, a Monthly Budget! (Budgeting for clothes, accessories, and shoes only).

At this point we're headed into July - For July I'd like to set a budget of no more than $150.  While I only spend a little bit here and there generally, that all adds up, and before I know it I'm justifying getting lots of sales around the fact that I've gone many times - the sales don't matter if you repeatedly go shopping and the grand total of all those trips adds up to a large purchase.  Repeat: The sales don't matter if you repeatedly go shopping.  I could go thrifting three times and spend a hundred dollars; but that's still a hundred dollars.  Yes I might have gotten a lot each time I went but if I'm also hitting up the mall and sales there next thing I know I could be up to a couple hundred dollars in a two week time span!  That could have easily gone toward a bigger purchase I've been wanting for some time (like a Michael Kors watch), or toward saving toward the dream car that I'd like.  It's about sacrificing - do I really need yet another pair of jeans?  Do I really need yet another blazer? Try to re-work what's in your closet, like I'll be doing in the Closet Remix, before adding to it.

  2. Hey Sarah,

I recently started a monthly link up for bloggers who have a budget - sort of a support group/way of peeking inside each other's shopping. I would love for you to participate! The first link up is here: http://franishh.blogspot.com/2012/06/june-budget.html No pressure of course, but I would love to have you!
