Tiny Librarian!

Simply Sarah is on vacation this week - check out this lovely lady!  Don't forget the giveaway!

Hi, this is Jennifer from Librarian for Life Style, a style spin-off from my personal blog Librarian for Life, and I'm excited to participate in Simply Sarah's "Workin' Girl" series today! I'm a librarian at a community college, and my style blog features a mix of work and casual outfits -- as well as casual work outfits, especially on Fridays! There's not an official dress code at my workplace, but the overall vibe is pretty casual. However, I like to look more put together so that I don't get mistaken for a student. Plus, there was a stricter dress code at the previous university I worked at -- no denim, even during the summer! -- so I want to get the most use out of what I already have in my wardrobe. But what about "casual Fridays"? For me and where I work now, Fridays = jeans (usually of the skinny variety). But I do like to mix in nicer pieces and special accessories, like blazers, scarves, or high heels.
Sometimes, I mix it up with boot-cut jeans. Or denim skirts. ;)
However, I do have a personal rule: no jeans on teaching days. Again, this is to do with presenting a more professional side to students and faculty. So for dressier variations on "casual Fridays," I still like to mix it up with fun details and accessories, like big hoop earrings or open-toed shoes or sandals (which are OK in my workplace).
What does "business casual" or "casual Fridays" mean for you? Finding a good balance is key for me, so I focus on mixing together casual and nicer pieces for an individualized, personal work look. For more of my personal style, please stop over at Librarian for Life Style and say hi. :) And thanks so much, Sarah, for including me in this series!
